ABOUT THIS BLOG

About Konjo

A blog about lifting, philosophy, and life.

What is this blog?

Konjo (根性) is Japanese for willpower, tenacity, and grit.

This is a personal blog. While many essays focus on lifting — progressive overload, the reality of moving heavy weight, and training habits — the writing here is equally about philosophy, books, discipline, and navigating modern life with clarity.

“What cannot be mended must be transcended.”

Lifting and Philosophy

Lifting heavy weights has a way of stripping away pretension. A barbell loaded with iron does not care about opinions, status, or theories. You either lift the weight or you do not.

That physical reality provides a grounded anchor for thinking about broader philosophical questions: how to practice voluntary hardship, how to cultivate focus in a noisy world, and how to build long-term habits that endure.

The Konjo App

In addition to writing here, I also develop Konjo — a minimal, offline-first workout logger designed to let you track your lifting sessions quickly without active timers, vibrating notifications, or social feeds.
